Gulliver's Travels, Green Hornet, and Other Updates...

eD is still doing stereoscopic 3D conversion for movies.  The second movie that he worked on briefly, Gulliver's Travels, is coming out soon in theaters and may actually be in theaters now depending on when you read this!

The most work that he has done so far though has been on the movie Green Hornet, which arrives in theaters January 17th (his name should be in the credits of this one and already has a credit for it on IMDB).  Way to go everyone who worked on these movies, I haven't seen much of him, so I imagine no one has really heard from them recently either.

In other news eD finally gets a week off and is going back to Pa for his first white christmas winter in something like 3 years now.  Jeez Louise!  He keeps mumbling about strange ideas when he staggers by so he may be working on some new stuff, I have no idea to be honest.

But amazing things this December from SSP, a step in the right direction if you will...

Update...

While there isn't a lot of new information to give, eD wanted me to let you all know that his IMDB page was updated recently to include his credit for his brief work on Jackass 3D. Now just to wait until he gets his Gulliver's Travels, and the Green Hornet credits. He has really been busy at his new job, and while his demo reel will not be able to show it his resume sure will.

There are a few other things going on around the offices of SSP, but it will be a bit before we can start releasing any images or info on those mystery projects. Some of them may need to stay secret until X-Mas.

Workin'

eD is still toiling away over at Stereo D doing 3D depth conversion for feature films, including the recent Jackass 3D.  not really any time to do personal work with his new work schedule and with Halloween so near, but sometime in the next few months expect a few things here and there.

New Stuff!

eD starts his new job this Monday so he has been toiling away trying to make some shirts and such with the Star Guy character he just finished.  Some of them seem pretty funny.  But I will let you all be the judge...

The Final Reveal of Star Guy...
eD has talked a bit about doing more with him, but I have no idea what or when...

New Character I Suppose...

eD has been working on a new character as he is working in ZBrush on his Salmon Character.  He has been posting images up on his Funny Ha Ha's but since it is 3D I decided to snag the images and post them here.  It is still a work in progress, and he hasn't actually given me the a-okay (or even b-okay) to post them on here, but I am sure he won't mind.

Tuesday August 17th...
Initial Star Model
Initial Wires, added extra Geometry to have enough poly's for the Face
Thursday August 19th...
Base Model with Face added (no Morphs)
Screen Capture from Modeling Program (one of the morphs)
Some Morphs Added
This character is the first of many that eD is calling his Sketchbook Project.  Throughout July his personal project (besides his normal) work was to fill a 50 page sketchbook with ideas for characters, shorts, and other rendered pieces.  He had succeeded and put together collages of some of his favorite pieces which he posted on his Funny Ha Ha's throughout July and early August, which he has recently all put into one post here.  With all that is going on, he will be working on these Sketchbook Projects whenever he has free time, or needs a slight break from whatever he is currently working on.  So while it will not be a daily posting on his Funny Ha Ha's like his "Hands! Project", they will be posted either weekly or biweekly depending on the depth and difficulty of the idea.  I know he has mentioned about doing animations with some of them so that will add to the length of time as well, but I am sure he will show off finished renders before starting animation.

So with that background on the Sketchbook Project, here is eDz first visual representation of this star guy.
(Spoiler... he is gonna get beaten up a bit before he is all finished.)
Initial (probably too much caffeine/lack of sleep) pen sketch

Been a while...

eD has been working on a bunch of new things, but he finally sent me something to post!
This is for another Find Chaffy project for Jamie Smart. eD was trying to teach himself fiber fx for fuzzy hair and grass during this project for possible use on his samurai animals project in the future. We shall see where that goes whenever it is time to get back into that project. For now it's back to looking for freelance work and working on personal projects.

Any donations to the let's make sure eD eats lunch today are always appreciated. For details contact eD I'm pretty sure he has a paypal account...

Something Fishy This Way Comes...

eD sent me a new character model he just finished the base for. He plans on doing more detailed work in the digital sculpting program Z-Brush, but he figured since he hasn't given me anything to post in so long that he would send a character rotation for me to post. So enjoy this glimpse at the before detailing.

eD is working on tons of stuff right now (mostly writing, creating characters and their backgrounds, and random sketches for ideas in the future), but I imagine a lot of the new stuff will be posted next month, when he starts a new personal project series, as well as, finishing this Salmon character and the other character that will take part in his shorts, but I am not at liberty to say more... At least eD didn't say I could say anything, so better safe than sorry...

Harry and Friends Update...

Just checked out the Black Belt Principles website and saw a bunch of new stuff! The website was redesigned and looks much nicer than before. It looks like the characters that eD created haven't changed too much since eD worked on them, besides outdoor clothes and some fuzzy texturing. There is also a trailer for the second episode to view on there as well. We here at SSP are happy to see their endeavors paying off and wish them all the luck with all their future projects.

Find Chaffy Fan Art

eD created this fan art for one of Jamie Smart's newest creations "Find Chaffy". The response that eD received was, "Ed, this was just off the hook, your Chaffy pic was wonnnnderful. Seriously you must render in your sleep by now, you make it all look so natural? it looks so realistic! Your work is always an absolute joy to see." I know eD had a lot of fun with it, and with those kind words because of his fan art piece, I imagine eD will be in a good mood for the rest of the day.

Sinbad?

eD received his copy of the 7 Adventures of Sinbad (which comes out on Tuesday for everyone else). You know how they say don't judge a book by it's cover, well it goes triple for movies. I think they made the cover while they were filming the movie before cuts and editing, so just because you see something on the DVD box art does not mean that it holds any relevance to the actual movie. Once eD has his viewing party I will let you all know my thoughts (but it will most likely be pass on this movie, don't even think twice).

7 Adventures of Sinbad...

I believe the movie comes out officially on May 25th like I previously mentioned. But in case anyone does take the time to watch it at about 1:31:30 you can see eD's name in the credits...
Pretty cool even if the movie didn't turn out too great. eD told me not to waste my time on it now, but I think as soon as he gets his real-deal version of the movie that he will have a movie bashing party, so I will probably see it then.

More new items!

eD keeps pumping away making new items for the webstore. Here is a sample of new shirts and some magnets, based off two of his other HANDS images.
There are probably more coming soon. But I think he is getting back into projects so it may be some time before we see too many more new items.

Was just sent a link to this Video on Youtube posted from Animal Planet. One of the Sea Scorpions for Animal Armageddon that eD modeled and textured.

Wowsers!

I knew eD would be getting me new images for shirts and such for the webstore but I had no idea I would get them so fast. I am not use to this much work in a day for the webstore. Wowee.

Check out the webstore to check out the new HANDS! section that has about 3 variations of images that were created during his HANDS project.

I know that there will be at least one more group of items for the store sometime soon, but I think that it is on eD's back-burner this week.

Newslette Whoopsie...

When I was working on the newsletter last night, it all seemed fine, but when I saw the one that was sent out this morning I realized that it was incomplete. Somehow it was sent without the last article and the newsletter closer, so without further ado doo, here are the missing bits.

Coming Soon…

Now that eD’s whiteboard in the office doesn’t have any more scribblings about the HANDS project, eD has been going back towards projects on his backburner. Fleshing out new ideas and concepts for old projects, as well as, working on a few new short ideas. He has mentioned that he wanted to get a few new shirts on the webstore sometime soon, I believe that they will be inspired by the HANDS project, so keep your eyes peeled to the SSPlog for any new details on these shirts.

Don’t forget about eDz blog either, the Funny Ha Ha’s. for anything that he feels like posting and not telling us here at SSP about until later. Cause he is still posting stuff like crazy over there and not giving us anything to post, and then I feel bad because I don’t have anything that he deems “worthy” of the SSPlog but still his page is littered with randomness. Guess I will have to start making up news and becoming more like a tabloid journalist. So until next time when there is more news to be told, and eD grows another head that constantly heckles everyone, stay cool and enjoy the brisk weather before summer hits full throttle.

New Hands Shirt Mock-Ups

These are just a few basic ideas and roughs that eD made for the new batch of shirts for the store. A few of them should be finished soon. Other ones still need some work, or so eD says...

HANDS Slideshow

A slideshow of images that eD created during his HANDS project in March.

The 7 Adventures of Sinbad

The 7 Adventures of Sinbad is a movie from company "The Asylum" that creates a lot of "Mockbusters" and other straight to DVD flare, not to mention most of the monster movies on SyFy (or however they are spelling it now). eD was able to work for a few weeks on the vfx of this movie before they ran out of funds to keep the freelancers on-board (the sinking ship) to help. Therefore I thought it important enough to at least mention. I believe this movie is of the straight to DVD genre but I would suggest waiting for it to show on SciFi and not wasting the money to purchase the DVD in these bad economic times. It should come out in the end of May but who knows when it will actually hit the streets.

Future Project Test

eD has been talking about a lot of projects recently, but he has also been producing a lot of stuff for himself/his Funny Ha Ha's, and has been working as a full-time freelancer during the day in Burbank. This is a test render for one of his many future projects. He said he didn't spend too long working on it, but I think it looks pretty close to the real deal. makes me hungry just looking at the image.

Taxidermy Fun

eD seems to enjoy Taxidermy, not enough to buy some of his own yet, but I think it has a special place in his creepy heart. Maybe because it is the closest thing to re-animation that he will see in his lifetime. I don't know, I just pulled that random explanation off the top of my head. The reason for this mild confused rant is that eD sent me a new render of his...I think this is the last we will see of this creepy little embryo guy for a while. But I have no idea to be honest.

New PSP Screens

eD likes making screens for his PSP and then he sends them my way to post on the blog so anyone who wants them can snag them easily. Without further ado... here are the new screens.

Unfortunately it is of mostly of eDz older works, but if you would be interested in seeing some new stuff that eD is cooking up check out his Funny Ha Ha's Blog. He is currently working on a "Hands" project. Everyday he posts a new render that he created with CG hands. Kinda strange but in an entertaining way, y'all should check it out.

A Blast from the Past!

I guess eD was going through some old pictures recently and he came across one of his first 3D models from the DAVE School. It was a recreation of one of the buildings in the Universal Studios lot in Olrando. This is what he sent me. I think he had a mohawk at this time. It was more like a fish fin than a mohawk but he seemed to like it so whatever.

Back to Cute & Creepy...

eD just sent me one of his newest renders, and it appears he has gone back to his cute & creepy approach to doing things. I'm not sure if he plans on doing anything more with this scene but he really doesn't start anything without a plan so I imagine we will see this again sometime in the future.

Another Logo...

eD created a logo for a comedic short that was created by Aslander Productions. The short hasn't been released yet, but when it does I will post about it here. This is a still Render of the logo...

New Render

It's like 2:30 in the morning and I get a call from eD waking me up telling me that I have to post this new render up right now. I guess he was worried that if people from the East coast wake up and check the site they won't see the new render. That is the guy that I work for, but the render did make me laugh as I rubbed the sleep from my eyes. He calls it "Cubism is for Squares."enjoy.

Store Went "Premium"!

SSP Zanyness!

The webstore has been made into a premium store. It will be a premium store for the next 5 years, then I get to choose whether I actually want to pay for this service to make the store amazing.

Now I will be able to make the store more like an actual webstore, controlling all the art and all of that joyous fun! I can also add as many items as I want in whatever style I choose. Bwah ha ha ha! "Cough Cough" I mean, if there is anything that you are interested in seeing in any other styles please let us know and we will do what we can to accommodate you!

Woo Let's Make Some $$$!

(the store is fully functional!)

Woo!

Finally received an email with an attachment from eD. It was the new shirt graphic that he let me post the mock-up of a few months ago (back in October actually). It has changed a bit since the initial drawing and now it looks a little more like a duck than a cuckoo bird but it still made me smile when I saw it. It is already up on the store which will soon be made into a premium store soon. This means that we will be able to sell multiple styles of multiple shirts from the same store. More on that when it becomes official.

Here We Go Again...

The eDMcD3D website has been updated with eD's new resume but still no new demo reel. The frames from the in-game cinematics of Saboteur should be released soon, and the project that eD just finished working on, an "Undisclosed Triple-A Title" teaser will not be released for at least a year (if even). eD is back to looking for his next gig, while he makes himself more marketable by learning new programs. I was going to bother him about the SSP projects that he claimed would be done months ago, but he is pretty sick and I didn't want him coughing on me, so I decided to save that conversation for a later date, and let him rest for now.
